Body System Dissection
1. The organs that I were able to identify was Heart, Intestines, stomach, trachea, esophagus, and lungs.
2.Small Intestine: color was greenish, and it looked like the wrinkles of the brain.
Heart: the heart was firm and hard. Had 4 wholes that led to the 4 chambers of the heart.
3.I enjoyed the dissection. I thought it was very interesting and fun. At first it was a little surprised on how the fetal pig looked like but I got used to it after sometime and it was fun. Before the dissection I thought that the organs would have a lighter color and the organs were more mushier that expected. If I were told to do this dissection again I would personally do it again.

1. How does this assignment relate to the standard?
7.LS.5b Students know that organ systems function because of the contribution of individual organs, tissues, and cells.
In this assignment I needed to know the different organs what system they belong to so I know where they are located in the pig. I also, needed to understand what the functions each organ had in the systems to understand why the pig (or humans and animals) why they have those organs and to identify them.
2. What are the steps you took to complete and do well on this assignment?
The first step that I took to complete this assignment is to give each team member a role. There were about 8-10 people within a group. Next we needed to set up our table so we could start the dissection. When we received our pig it was still in its placenta. As we took the pig out of its placenta there was a lot of liquid coming out so we used paper towels to absorb the liquid. Then we took turns cutting the pig. We started from the throat of the pig to where its diaphram was located then we cut two lines One in the middle of the pig one where the diaphram of the pig was. Then we started to open the pig to find the organs after we found and took out all the organs we explored. We cut the pigs brain to see its brain. But because the chemicals that the pig was in the brain couldn't keep its form.
3. This assignment demonstrates the following strengths...
This assignment demonstrates that I am able to identify the organs and understand the function of each organ system. I also know where the organs are located in an animal or human.
4. I could have improved my work on this assignment by..
I think that to improve this assignment our group could have organized what we were going to do first. We didn't finish assigning roles to people. There were few individuals who wanted to do every thing. Lastly i think we handled the pig to rough. Some of the organs were cut.
5. How will you apply the skills you learned from this assignment in either the real world when you are an adult or in other classes while you are still a student?
I can use the skills I have learned in this assignment in real life in my career of medical school. One of my career paths that I plan on to go is a doctor and as a doctor it is common sense to know the organs, organ systems and its function. Personally, I do not plan on to be a surgeon.
