1. How does this assignment relate to the standard?
7.LS.2a: students know the difference between the life cycles and reproduction. Methods of sexual and asexual organisms.
7.LS.2b: students know sexual reproduction produces offspring that inherit half their genes from each parent.
This assignment relates to the standard, because the whole story is about reproduction. in the book we wrote about how the offspring gets half of the genes from each parent.
2. What are the steps you took to complete and do well on this assignment?
The first what i did for this project is the psyduck genetics project. We randomly picked the genotype of the psyduck. then according to the genotype i found the phenotype of mt psyduck. They were: body color: yellow, bill color: orange, eye color: purple, head color: green, feet color: green, and black spots: no spots. with that information i teamed up with one of my classmates to make a story book. One of us was the mother (me) and my partner was the father of the psyduck. In the first page of the book we wrote about the features of the two psyducks and how they met and fell in love . The second page we wrote a short story of how thay wanted to know what their baby would look like. Then on a separate sheet of paper we made punnett squares to find the probability of the genotypes the offspring would have. Then on the page we explaned what a punnett square is and named all the percentage of the genotypes the offspring has. On the third page we wrote about how traits are passed down and where they come from. Then we glued a diagram of the process of making the offspring. It stared of with meiosis and fertilization. Then showed the zygote. The fifth page we wrote of how the baby looked like. The six the page we wrote about what the ending.
3. This assignment demonstrates the following strengths...
This assignment demonstrates that I kn how to make punnett squares. I understand how genes are passed down from parent to offspring. I understand dominant and recessive traits.
4. I could have improved my work on this assignment by...
I could have improved my work on this assignment if I decorated the book more. I could have more clearly explained how the genes are passed down. I also could have talked more with my partner
5. How will you apply the skills you learned from this assignment in either the real world when you are an adult or in other classes while you are still a student?
I can use the things I have learned from this assignment in either the real world because I understand the how genes are passed down. I would know what my child would get from me or the child's dad. I could also use this to find out what genes I would have received from my parents.
