8.VA.2.6-Design and create both additive and subtractive sculptures.
This assignment relates to the standard because I needed to create a mask using additive and subtractive techniques to create the makes features. While making the mask I added paper to show 3 dimension on the nose. I then used subtractive techniques to cut out the mouth and eyes of the mask.
2. What are the steps you took to complete and do well on this assignment?
The first step that I took to complete this project is to make paper mache using a balloon. I worked with a partner for this part of the project. We covered the balloon 3 times so the mask would be sturdy. The next day in class we popped the balloon and cut the paper mache in half. Each partner got half of the paper mache to make their masks. Then I used additive and subtractive techniques to create the eyes, nose, mouth, and etc. Then, in the next class I painted my mask. Lastly, I used markers and construction paper to create the character Echo in Greek mythology.
