This assignment relates to the standard because relative quotes and phrases had to be used to support the analysis of Daniel's growth. For example, page 253 says that "In its place a strength and sureness, and a peace he had never imagined, flowed around him and into his mind and heart".This shows the change in Daniel's mind and heart when he finally let go of the hate and vengeance toward the Roman. For the writing exam, we needed to give a claim about the book and use evidence from the book to support our claim. The timeline required writing about events that helped and prevented Daniel from changing by organizing events that had reasons and evidence behind them. All was kept in chronological order. Lastly, for the two assignments, I needed to finish with a closing statement. Also I introduced a claim and supported that claim using textual evidence and an analysis for the evidence.
2. What are the steps you took to complete and do well on this assignment?
The first step I took to complete the Bronze Bow Timeline was getting the events in the book in order. I gathered 20 important events that affected Daniel's growth. After, I wrote the events in detail in the final product. Finally, I drew pictures and symbols that represented each event.
To start the writing exam assignment, I wrote four quote analysis. Then ,when the writing exam came, I wrote a quick summary about the book Bronze Bow and Daniel's changes. Next, in the second paragraph, I wrote about how Daniel was in the beginning of the novel. I wrote about one specific person that contributed in Daniel's change in the third paragraph. Finally, in the last paragraph, I wrote about the moment Daniel completely changed.
3. This assignment demonstrates the following strengths...
This assignment demonstrates that I understand the order and what took Daniel to change in the book. It also shows that I am able to put events in chronological order. It also shows that I fully understand The Bronze Bow.
This assignment demonstrates that I understand the concept of ACE. I understand how to get a quote from a text and analyze the quote. It also shows that I understand the moral of the story that hate is the enemy and if we don't let go of the hate and refuse to love, we will never truly be happy. Also I know how to introduce claims and support the claims using textual evidence.
4. I could have improved my work on this assignment by...
Some of the things I had problems with is figuring out what events happened in order.
Also for the essay I had trouble introducing claims into the essay.
5. How will you apply the skills you learned from this assignment in either the real world when you are an adult or in other classes while you are still a student?
I can apply the skills learned from this assignment to my medical career when I need to observe and analyze a patient and give a prescription to the patient. This would be helpful to use when I need to fully understand a text.
